Commenting on the large-scale protests in Sofia and major regional centres across Bulgaria against the adoption of the 2026 State Budget Bill, MECh (Morality, Unity, Honour) Chair Radostin Vasilev wrote on Facebook: “Sofia is burning! Bulgaria is protesting! The police are reluctantly guarding the headquarters of New Beginning and of GERB from the righteous anger of the people. In the end, they didn’t manage to protect them. The mobsters stole 30 years from Bulgarians, and what is happening now is expected and not surprising.”

If there was any provocation, he added, “it was a provocation against the patience of the Bulgarian people.”

Vasilev said that “the only way out is for the government to resign, for Bulgaria to refuse entry into the eurozone, for immediate elections to be held, and for a majority to form against GERB and MRF–New Beginning.”

“The mafia cannot be removed with smiles and kisses,” he added.
