All of Bulgaria’s needs for petroleum products are secured, supplies of crude oil are regular and predictable, and the financial position of the Neftohim Burgas oil refinery has been stabilized. There is no risk of the country running out of fuel, said Rumen Spetsov, special commercial administrator of Lukoil in Bulgaria, during a meeting of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Economic Policy and Innovation on Wednesday.

The meeting examined the action plan of the special commercial administrator of the Lukoil companies in Bulgaria pursuant to Article 27b, paragraph 6 of the Act on the Administrative Regulation of Economic Activities Related to Oil and Petroleum Products.

Spetsov described the Neftohim refinery in the Black Sea city of Burgas as “a true technological marvel” and one of the most modern in the world.

He noted that the refinery had originally been designed to process primarily Urals crude. At present, however, the engineering and chemical team is able to blend different grades of crude oil. “The engineers are working wonders to adapt the technological process to various types of feedstock,” he said.
