Russia attacked the energy system in the Ukrainian Black Sea city of Odesa once again during the night of Monday to Tuesday, the authorities said.

"During the night the Russians once again attacked the energy sector in Odesa. According to information from DTEK, the enemy has once again inflicted destructive strikes on the city’s energy infrastructure," Odesa Municipality said on its Telegram channel. "The damage is extremely serious. Repairs to fix it will take a long time."

Emergency teams from DTEK, an energy supplier in Kyiv, are currently working on site and clearing the debris. The main task is to restore electricity supply to critical infrastructure facilities.

Bulgarians in Odesa Province number more than 150,000 and are the third largest ethnic group according to the latest official census in Ukraine. Around 50,000–60,000 Bulgarians live in the city of Odesa itself. The largest compact Bulgarian communities in the province, outside the city of Odesa, are concentrated in the areas of Bolhrad, Izmail and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi.
