site.btaBulgarian Mezdra Folklore Ensemble Wins Two Awards at International Festival in Tirana

The Mezdra Folk Dance Ensemble has returned with two prestigious awards from the International Folklore Festival held in the Albanian capital of Tirana from July 14 to 16, Mezdra Municipality said on Friday.

Competing against folklore ensembles from Abkhazia, Burundi, Egypt, Morocco, Northern Cyprus, North Macedonia, Senegal and Türkiye, the Mezdra dancers won second prize in the overall rankings and a special award for the Most Beautiful Traditional Folk Costume, presented by the international jury.

First prize went to Studio Folklore Ensemble from Skopje, North Macedonia, while third prize was awarded to the Ridade Ensemble from Abkhazia.

Starting on Sunday, July 19, the Mezdra Folklore Ensemble will host the four-day Folklore Magic of Mezdra International Festival. More than 230 dancers, singers and musicians from Europe, Asia, North America and South America are expected to take part.
