The quarterly total income average per household member in Bulgaria was BGN 3,687 (equivalent to EUR 1,885.13) during the fourth quarter of 2025 and increased by 9.4% compared to the same quarter of 2024, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) reported on Wednesday. During the same period, the quarterly total expenditure average per household member during the fourth quarter of 2025 was BGN 3,203 (equivalent to EUR 1,637.67) and it increased by 5.6% compared to the same quarter of 2024.

At the beginning of 2025, the total income average per household member was BGN 3,271 (equivalent to EUR 1,672.44) up 15.2%, year on year, whereas the total expenditure average per household member was BGN 2,861 (equivalent to EUR 1,462.81), or 13.3% compared to the same quarter of the previous year, a search of the NSI website showed.

In the fourth quarter of 2025, the share of food and non-alcoholic beverages in household expenditure increased by 0.3 percentage points compared to the fourth quarter of 2024, and the share of taxes and social insurance contributions increased by 1.8 percentage points. The share of housing decreased by 0.5 percentage points.
