Emil Dechev has been nominated as caretaker Minister of Interior in the Gurov draft cabinet.

Emil Dechev was born on May 5, 1970, in Pleven. He graduated in Law from Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski in 1996 and a year later began working as an investigator at the Sofia Investigation Service.

In 2017, Emil Dechev was a candidate for member of the Supreme Judicial Council. In 2022, during the government of Kiril Petkov, Dechev became the third deputy minister of justice in the team of Nadejda Iordanova. That same year, when Krum Zarkov served as Minister of Justice in the caretaker government, Emil Dechev retained his position and was responsible for the Bulgarian Citizenship Directorate.
