Employment in non-financial enterprises at the end of the first quarter of 2025 was 1.6 million, or 0.8% more than in the first quarter of 2024, the National Statistics Institute said on Monday.

At the end of the first quarter of 2025, total employment in industry (including mining and quarrying; manufacturing; electricity, heat and gas production and distribution; and water collection, treatment and supply) was 506,200, down 2.8% compared with the first quarter of 2024.

In business services (excluding trade, financial and insurance activities), employees were 562,300, or 2.5% more than in the same period of the previous year.
