Caretaker Minister of Energy Traicho Traikov will attend the Transatlantic Energy Security Summit that will take place in Washington, DC, on Tuesday, the Ministry reported on Monday. During the summit a Joint declaration will be reviewed for increasing the security of gas supplies for Central and Eastern Europe, which will combine the efforts of 12 European countries and the United States for fair pricing and safety.
The document is expected to be signed by Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Moldova, Ukraine, Croatia, Lithuania, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the US, which will further strengthen the transatlantic partnership in energy security.
By signing the declaration, Bulgaria will establish itself as a country of key transit and infrastructural significance along the Vertical Gas Corridor.
The member countries will state their intention to strengthen the energy security of Europe by providing stable and sustainable supplies by reliable and diversified sources, remove supplies from Russia and encourage strategic partnership between Europe and the US, the announcement said.
