Over 9.3 million Romanians voted in Sunday's first round of the presidential election by 8:30 pm, Agerpres reported.

Election day ended at 9 pm, so these are not the final turnout results.

The permanent electoral body reported that around 940,000 voters had voted abroad by 8 pm, Agerpres also reported

The voter turnout abroad is higher than in the first round of the presidential election in 2024, when 767,570 voters had voted by 8 pm.

The result of the first round of the presidential election last year was annulled due to suspicions of Russian interference in favor of the ultra-nationalist candidate Calin Georgescu. Moscow denied the accusations.
