The fourth annual International Basketball Federation (FIBA) meeting brought together safeguarding and integrity single points of contact (SPOCs) from Europe’s national basketball federations, the Bulgarian Basketball Federation said here on Wednesday.

Bulgarian representative Todor Kolev attended the meeting, which was led by FIBA experts Radmila Turner and Benjamin Schindler.

Sofia hosted the event, led by Turner and Schindler. Other FIBA representatives, as well as external specialists in sports integrity, also gave talks.

The meeting’s official guests included FIBA Europe Executive Director Kamil Novak and Bulgarian Basketball Federation President Georgi Glushkov.

Over the two-day programme, participants attended a series of lectures and engaged in lively discussions focused on preventing match-fixing and enhancing safeguarding standards in basketball.

“Serious issues related to match-fixing and safeguarding in basketball are extremely important to us and to all national federations. We are proud that FIBA Europe has put its trust in the Bulgarian Basketball Federation by asking it to host the annual meeting of European integrity officers representing more than 50 countries,” Glushkov said.
