The first-ever Bulgarian-language course taught at university level in Barcelona is officially getting underway February 24, marking a milestone for Bulgarian studies in the Catalan capital, the Bulgarian Consulate General in Barcelona announced in a Facebook post. The introductory A1-level course will be held at the University of Barcelona.

The course is open not only to students of the University of Barcelona but also to external participants, making it accessible to anyone interested in learning the Bulgarian language. According to the consulate, the programme offers beginners a structured introduction to both the language and Bulgarian culture.

"This is an excellent opportunity for everyone who would like to take their first steps in studying the Bulgarian language and to become familiar with Bulgarian culture," the Bulgarian Consulate said.

Classes are scheduled to continue through May 21, 2026.
