Applied science conference for students, PhD students and young scientists took place at Angel Kanchev University of Ruse's Taraclia branch on Monday. The forum was the first student conference held at the branch in Moldova and was part of University of Ruse's 65th science conference.

The event began with a plenary meeting at which the participants were greeted by Taraclia branch Director Assoc. Prof. Valentina Vasileva, as well as the its Administrative Director Alexandr Borimecicov. During the official opening ceremony, Vasileva presented a paper on the establishment of a common European space for education and science, and the role of universities in the process. The meeting agenda included a presentation of three books, published with the support of Bulgarian Spirit Foundation, held by its President Oleg Kosih.

Vasileva noted that the idea of organizing such a conference had emerged a month or two ago, and aimed, on the one hand, to encourage students to create scientific materials and, on the other, to test the capacity of their tutors, who took up the role of supervisors.

“I am particularly pleased with the fact that the idea was so warmly embraced”, shared Vasileva and emphasized that the 23 papers, elaborated by both students and their supervisors, prove the great success of the formed team, the members of which share a common perspective for future development. Her appeal to the attending students was to be active and confident in their capacities, to ask questions and to seek answers.

The conference was structured in three thematic areas: Bulgarian cultural-historical heritage; interdisciplinary research in music, folklore, pedagogical interaction; and new challenges presented to education and psychology.

The first section covered topics such as the contribution of Bulgarian historians and archaeologists; protestant communities in Bessarabia, Medieval literature as means for enhancing critical thinking, military service impact on Bessarabia emigrants, etc.

Among the highlights of the second thematic area were: folk music, perceived as culture-identification factor; folk dance of Bulgarians in Moldova; tutor-parent interactions; usage of Bulgarian folk tales for teaching purposes.

The third section featured discussions on educational process as a social-pedagogic system; development of communication skills from an early age; AI integration in student’s academic growth, etc.

The branch in Taraclia started its first academic year on September 1, 2025. By resolution of the Moldova Public Services Agency the transformation of the Taraclia State University to a branch of Angel Kanchev University of Ruse was officially finished on April 2, 2025. The official opening ceremony took place on May 24, 2025.

The transition of the Taraclia University to an international academic branch of a Bulgarian educational institution was a strategic step towards a more effective cooperation between both states providing, among other things, the chance of enriching the list of majors proposed to students in Moldova.
