The World Dance Collective Gurbetchii will take part in the 11th edition of the traveling festival Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance, scheduled to be held from May 15 to 17 at BMW Park in Munich.
In the German city, the ensemble will present the premiere of its mini-performance “Return and Celebration after the Balkan War”, artistic director Teodosi Teodosiev told BTA. Teodosiev is the founder of the Gurbetchii World Dance Collective.
According to him, the performance is more than just dance: “It is a return to the roots, to strength, and to who we are, wherever we are in the world.”
“We will be in Munich at the invitation of the Lazarka ensemble, led by artistic director and organizer of this year’s Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance edition Plamen Petkov. We thank them sincerely for their trust. And above all, we thank all the dancers – for their faith, for their sacrifices, for proving that the Bulgarian spirit knows no borders,” Teodosiev added.
The travelling festival Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance is organized by and for amateur folklore ensembles performing outside Bulgaria. The initiative was launched by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the first edition in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025. More than 100 dance ensembles and over 4,000 guests are expected at the 11th edition in Munich in May. The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is the official media partner of the event and will present all participants.
