The Cyprus-based folk formation Sovatchii will take part in the 11th edition of the traveling festival Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance, scheduled to be held from May 15 to 17 at BMW Park in Munich.

“For our stage appearance, we will perform as a камерна formation. We will present part of ‘Dances from Southeast Bulgaria’, choreographed by Todor Bekirski with music by Stefan Chapkanov, a work with strong stage presence and powerful emotional impact,” the group’s artistic director Teodosi Teodosiev told BTA.

The Sovatchii folk formation was founded on October 1, 2015, by Teodosiev, who also serves as its artistic director and choreographer. Over the years, the group has established itself as an active organizer of major annual festivals in Cyprus, with a core mission to bring together Bulgarian school and amateur ensembles, as well as singers and musicians of different age groups, he added.

The travelling festival Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance is organized by and for amateur folklore ensembles performing outside Bulgaria. The initiative was launched by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the first edition in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025. More than 100 dance ensembles and over 4,000 guests are expected at the 11th edition in Munich in May. The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is the official media partner of the event and will present all participants.
