The dance group "Shevitsa" in Essen (Germany) and the amateur group "Mila Rodina" in Krefeld (Germany) will take part jointly under the name "Shevitsi from Mila Rodina" in the 11th Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance travelling festival to be held from May 15 to 17 at BMW Park in Munich.

The two groups are uniting for their first joint appearance, driven by a shared passion for Bulgarian folklore and the desire to preserve and promote Bulgarian culture abroad, said their leader Ivandzhelin Ivanova.

They will perform the dance "Shopska Zakachka" ("Shopi tease"), choreographed by Iliya Petkov, inspired by traditional dances from the Shopluk folklore region and recreating the lively spirit and playful interactions typical of village gatherings.

The group includes 22 dancers aged between 14 and over 60, some of whom were born or raised in Germany but maintain a strong connection to their Bulgarian roots. Preparation for the performance includes intensive rehearsals several times a week, along with the making of costumes and accessories.

The travelling festival brings together amateur Bulgarian folklore ensembles from abroad and has been hosted in various European cities since its launch in 2015.
