The Council of Ministers adopted a decision on the preparation and conduct of parliamentary elections on April 19, 2026.
The Cabinet assigns the Minister of Electronic Governance to coordinate the implementation of activities related to the organizational and technical preparation of the elections, including coordinating with the Central Election Commission on the conditions and procedures for the production, delivery, and storage of election stationary.
The Minister of the Interior is tasked with organizing the execution of activities within his Ministry’s competence for the preparation and conduct of the elections.
The Minister of Finance will submit to the Council of Ministers a draft rates with the fees that parties, coalitions, and initiative committees must pay for campaign broadcasts on Bulgarian National Television and Bulgarian National Radio, including their regional centers.
The Minister of Regional Development and Public Works will coordinate the preparation and publication of the voter lists.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs will organize the preparation and conduct of elections abroad.
The Minister of Justice will oversee the preparation and conduct of elections in detention facilities. The Minister of Electronic Governance will be in charge of the technical implementation of video monitoring of the vote count at the voting sections, including signing the necessary contracts for this purpose.
According to the government decision, the Ministers of Electronic Governance, of the Interior, Foreign Affairs, Regional Development and Public Works, and Justice will inform the Prime Minister of the progress of election preparations up until the announcement of the election results.
