Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis reiterated Greece’s continued support for Ukraine’s independence, four years after Russia launched its full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022, a statement posted on Mitsotakis’ official social media account on X on Tuesday, said.
"Four years later, Ukraine is defending its sovereignty with courage and resilience. We reaffirm our unwavering support for its independence, its people, and for a peace that upholds international law. May the next anniversary mark not another year of war, but a just and lasting peace," the post said.
Mitsotakis will participate later in the day in a video conference with leaders of the so-called Coalition of the Willing on Ukraine, a group of countries coordinating support for Kyiv, the online edition of the Kathimerini newspaper reported.
Since the Russian invasion, Greece has sent ammunition, vehicles and anti-tank weapons to Ukraine, while providing training and medical aid to wounded soldiers. The US has also used the port of Alexandroupolis to transport military assistance to Kyiv, eKathimerini added.
