The Central Israeli Spiritual Council expressed condolences on the passing of Pope Francis on Monday, in a addressed to Bishop Petko Valov, Bulgarian Catholic Eparchy of Saint John XXIII of Sofia. The letter was published on the official Facebook page of the Israeli Spiritual Council. It was signed by Maxim Delchev, head of the Religious Community of Jews in Bulgaria.
“On behalf of the Religious Community of Jews in Bulgaria and the Chief Rabbi of the country, Yoel Ifrach, we express our condolences to the Catholic Church in Bulgaria, as well as to the millions of people around the world who mourn the loss of a great spiritual leader. May his memory be a source of inspiration and peace,” the letter states, describing Pope Francis as “a spiritual leader who left a deep mark with his humanity, wisdom and aspiration for peace between peoples and faith”.
