Alexander Tomov, chairperson of Bulgarian Social Democracy – EuroLeft, a partner in the BSP–United Left coalition, Saturday said that his party's goal is for the political entity around former president Rumen Radev and BSP-United Left to form the foundation of a future governing majority. Tomov spoke at the party’s national conference in Sofia.

"We are expected to enter [Parliament], ideally with 200,000–250,000 votes, which would also mean an increase in the percentage. I now see this as realistic, because the new BSP leadership is completely different and is not affiliated to [Movement for Rights and Freedoms - New Beginning leader] Delyan Peevski or [GERB leader] Boyko Borissov," Tomov said. "Everyone about whom we had doubts is no longer there — neither on the candidate lists nor in the Executive Bureau," he added.

Tomov noted that he approved of caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gurov's governing agenda.

At Saturday's conference, the party’s participation in the BSP–United Left coalition and in the upcoming elections will be put to a vote, along with a resolution that “highly values” Rumen Radev’s participation in the elections and designates his political formation as a potential partner.
