The Bulgarian-German co-production The Trap (2023) was screened last week at the Goethe-Institut Bucharest, organized by the Orasul Reel Foundation, said Ivanka Shisheva, a representative of the organization.
The film was presented by director Nadejda Koseva and drew both Bulgarian and international audiences. Bulgarian Ambassador Radko Vlaykov attended the event as special guest. Koseva expressed her delight at the meeting, highlighting the connection that flows “from Germany down the Danube to its very end in Bulgaria and Romania.” Ambassador Vlaykov praised the collaboration, underlining the strong cultural ties between the two countries and emphasizing the need for more “bridges over the river.”
Following the screening, the director answered audience questions, discussing the challenges of filming, the thematic focus on nature, and what inspired her to undertake the project. The event also featured a performance by Silistra’s brass band, which delighted attendees.
Founded in 2021, the Orasul Reel Foundation is dedicated to researching and preserving Bulgarian cultural heritage in Bucharest and beyond through cinema and the arts.
