site.btaBulgaria Claims Eight Medals at World Calisthenics Championships in Sofia


Bulgarian athletes collected eight medals, four gold, three silver and one bronze, at the World Calisthenics (Street Fitness) Championships, which ended on Sunday in Asics Arena.
In women’s freestyle, Jasmina Svilenova won both the middleweight and overall titles. She received her awards from gymnastics icon Yordan Yovchev and organizing committee chair Tsvetan Georgiev. Stefan Eroteev earned silver in the men’s middleweight division.
The basics discipline (muscle-ups, pull-ups with 32 kg and dips with 48 kg) brought five more podiums for the hosts: Petar Simeonov (lightweight) and Andrey Andreev (heavyweight) took gold; Stoyan Banov (lightweight) and Teodor Rusev (heavyweight) secured silver; Atanas Atanasov added bronze.
Czech competitor Tomas Pospisil topped the men’s overall standings.
Bulgaria, fielding 20 athletes, staged the championships for the first time. The event drew participants from 60 countries.
