The Commission for Protection against Discrimination (CPD) has instilled in society the understanding that any manifestation of discrimination is unacceptable, offensive, and will be identified and punished, and that discrimination has no place in the future of a free society, Parliament Chair Raya Nazaryan said in her congratulatory address on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the CPD on Tuesday.

According to her, the Commission has restored justice in society. The Commission has become a sign and a symbol of the implementation of one of the most important priorities - the protection of citizens from any form of discrimination, she added.

In a European, democratic, and law-abiding country such as Bulgaria, equal opportunities and equal treatment of citizens are the foundation of a successful and prosperous society. This is also the mission of the CPD, Nazaryan said in her speech.

The Parliament Chair emphasized that over the past 20 years, the CPD has gained a wealth of experience and international recognition.
