A solo exhibition by Ruse-born artist Anatoliy Stankulov opened on Saturday, the Day of Wine and Love, at the Art Gallery in Bosilegrad. The opening programme included a literary reading dedicated to the work of Bulgarian writer Yordan Radichkov, an author for whom the artist has repeatedly expressed deep admiration and spiritual affinity.
Addressing the guests, Stankulov described the exhibition as a symbolic new beginning in his creative path. He recalled that he became acquainted with the region last year when, at the invitation of the GLAS Association, he took part in the fifth edition of the Bosilegrad in Colours plein air event, noting that the nature of the Bosilegrad area is among the sources of his inspiration. A significant portion of the works on display are dedicated to local landscapes.
The artist also presented his long-standing initiative combining culture, education and public engagement. The project involves lecturers from four universities, representatives of state institutions and artists. As of this summer, two painters from Bosilegrad, Ljubisha Penev and Sandra Stoimenov, are joining the initiative, which, according to Stankulov, reflects the deepening cultural cooperation.
The exhibition in Bosilegrad has a charitable character. Proceeds from the sale of the paintings will be allocated to a fund supporting talented young people in the field of the arts. Part of the funds raised will go towards a scholarship for a student from Bosilegrad. According to the organizers, a substantial number of the exhibited works had already been sold at the opening.
The exhibition will remain open to visitors for one month. Each purchased painting is accompanied by a book donated by former Bulgarian Ambassador to Serbia Georgi Dimitrov.
The event was organized with the support of Bosilegrad Municipality and the Cultural and Information Centres of Bosilegrad. Representatives of the municipal leadership, members of the cultural community, local artists and art lovers attended the opening.
