site.btaDecember Industrial Production Up by 1.2% in Euro Area Y/Y, Bulgaria Posts EU’s Third Largest Decline
In December 2025, month-on-month, seasonally adjusted industrial production decreased by 1.4% in the euro area and by 0.8% in the EU, according to first estimates from Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union. In November 2025, industrial production grew by 0.3% in the euro area and fell by 0.1% in the EU.
In December 2025, compared with December 2024, industrial production increased by 1.2% in the euro area and by 1.4% in the EU. Bulgaria recorded the third-largest annual decline in the EU, at 6.8%, after Slovakia and Luxembourg, meaning that the country no longer ranks last by this indicator.
The annual average industrial production for the year 2025, compared with 2024, increased by 1.5% in both the euro area and the EU.
By main industrial groupings in the euro area, on an annual basis in December, production increased for intermediate goods (by 1.5%) and capital goods (by 4.1%), while a decline was recorded for energy (0.7%) and for durable and non-durable consumer goods - by 2.4% and 2. % respectively.
In the EU, production of intermediate goods rose by 1.9% and capital goods by 4.5%. A decrease was registered in energy (1.3%), as well as in durable (1.8%) and non-durable consumer goods (2.0%).
Among the Member States, the highest annual growth was recorded in Poland (6.9%), Sweden (4.8%), and Croatia (4.5%). The most significant decline was registered in Slovakia (8.5 %), Luxembourg (7.9%), and Bulgaria (6.8%).
