Over the years, the Agra, Vinaria and Foodtech exhibitions have built up authority and popularity, which attracts producers and traders far beyond the borders of Bulgaria, Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Yanislav Yanchev said Tuesday at the opening of the 11th edition of the forum in Plovdiv.
He pointed out that the event allows world leaders in the production of modern machinery and high technologies for agriculture, as well as producers of quality agricultural products, food and wines to showcase their work, noting that among the exhibitors are both established names and smaller companies that are making their way on the market with new ideas, vision and innovative products.
The Agriculture and Food Ministry will continue to build on what has been achieved in the development of the sector, Yanchev said, adding that over EUR 1 billion are allocated annually to support farmers. "For Bulgaria, as a country with traditions in agricultural production, financial support under the Strategic Plan for the Development of Agriculture and Rural Areas is of key importance," the minister emphasized.
Yanchev also pointed out that the ministry's efforts are aimed at strengthening the market positions of producers, especially small and medium-sized farms, stimulating association and cooperation in the supply chain in order to improve sales opportunities and saturate the market with Bulgarian products. "Agriculture has the potential to produce affordable, safe and high-quality products, while at the same time contributing to the protection of the climate, the environment and biodiversity. Our goal is sustainable and competitive Bulgarian agriculture with conditions for long-term growth and stable support for farmers," Yanchev concluded.
