site.btaPresident Iotova Greets Class of 2025 Graduates of Sofia Medical University’s Faculty of Medicine

Bulgarian President Iliana Iotova welcomed the graduates of the Class of 2025 of the Faculty of Medicine at Medical University of Sofia at a formal diploma award ceremony for newly qualified doctors on Tuesday.

“Goodness is part of humanity and lies at the heart of the medical profession”, Iotova said, adding that the challenges facing Bulgaria’s healthcare system are serious and numerous, and that health policies are often developed behind closed doors without seeking the views of doctors, academic leadership and practising physicians. According to her, it is impossible to adopt the right policies without their input.

The President also addressed the families and parents of the graduates, explaining that they would live with the tension of how their children’s day had gone, as well as with the worries and emotions of their patients. This, she said, is the fate of everyone who has a doctor in the family, and their support is crucial.

Iotova also congratulated the lecturers who trained the young doctors.
