A warning for hazardous weather conditions is in effect on Wednesday - an orange code (second degree) and a yellow code (first degree) for snowfall, as well as strong and gale-force winds across most of the country, according to the warning map published on the website of the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) on Wednesday. During the night hours, there will also be conditions for icy roads in northeastern Bulgaria.

A yellow code for strong winds and significant sea waves along the coast has also been issued for the day by the Institute.

Precipitation will gradually stop from the west, with the eastern regions being the last affected, where it will remain cloudy with snowfall for most of the day. In the afternoon, cloud cover will break up and decrease, leading to mostly sunny weather. It will be windy, with moderate to strong northwesterly winds. Highs: 2°C to 7°C, around 3°C in Sofia.

In the mountains, it will be cloudy with snowfall. In some places, precipitation will be significant, leading to the formation of new snow cover. Around noon, snowfall will stop from the west and cloud cover will break up and decrease. Strong to hurricane-force northwesterly winds will blow, with blizzard conditions and snowdrifts expected in mountain passes. Highs: around minus 5°C at 1,200 meters and around minus 9°C at 2,000 meters.
