site.btaBulgaria's Automotive Industry Has Increased Ten-fold - Deputy Innovation Minister

The automotive sector is one of the leading sectors in Bulgaria, Deputy Innovation and Growth Minister Martin Danovski said during an international Automotive Forum 2025 in Sofia, of which BTA is a media partner. According to him, the sector has increased tenfold its main indicators - in the number of companies, employment, investment volume and the number of development centers. In the last two years, certified investments worth about BGN 2 billion have been made through various measures supported by the state.

Danovski said that in order to continue this progress, it is necessary to increase the number of engineering and technical specialists at least tenfold. This is an area where Bulgaria is lagging behind, although 17 higher education institutions are preparing such staff. The country also has 103 vocational schools, a vocational college and five technical primary schools. However, the training of highly qualified personnel needs to be significantly expanded to sustain the growth of the sector.
