The 16th Summer Academy for Children and Students of the National Academy of Art (NAA) will open at the building of the Faculty of Applied Arts and Design on August 4, organizers announced on Thursday. The activities include drawing, painting, modelling, making ceramics, and learning to weave.

On  August, young artists will learn about the art of American abstract sculptor and painter Alexander Calder, an innovator in kinetic art, as well as Catalan surrealist painter and sculptor Juan Miro. The children will then create their own works inspired by the work of world-renowned artists. The finished works will be exhibited in the courtyard and staircase space of the building to welcome the guests at the opening.

The theme of the 16th Summer Academy is "I have an idea", and the creative workshops in which participants will be able to create their ideas are: academic drawing, painting, book and illustration - make a personal book, comic book, calligraphy, graphic drawing, poster and cause card, sculpture, ceramics and pottery, mosaic, stained glass, fabric puppets, puppetry, puppet theatre with original children's play, stop motion animation, design and recycling of unwanted packaging into toys, landart, knitting and embroidery, handmade paper, ebru - an ancient Arabic technique for painting on water.
