Vitosha Snow Park near Sofia will host the Freestylerz Euro Rail Jam on February 7, said the organizers of Vitosha Ski Tuesday. It will be the fifth round of the FIS European Cup, making it the first time an event of this level is held on the slopes above Sofia. The competition places Vitosha alongside elite venues such as Davos and Kitzsteinhorn on this season’s eight-stop tour.
The Rail Jam discipline is one of the fastest-growing formats in freestyle skiing and snowboarding and is expected to be included in the 2030 Winter Olympics. Bulgaria will be represented by Petar Gyosharkov, Simeon Mitrev and Anastas Sunkov.
Athletes from eight countries have registered so far, including Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Poland, Sweden and Serbia. The course will feature four custom-built rails, with Mecha Polyana offering excellent visibility for spectators.
