Ruse Municipality will purchase a buffer parking lot for heavy trucks near the Danube Bridge border crossing checkpoint for EUR 10 million if the funds are provided by the state budget. On Tuesday, the Ruse Municipal Council voted 34-9, with three abstentions, to adopt a proposal to this effect made by Mayor Pencho Milkov.

Milkov said that in 2025, a letter was sent to the Finance Ministry and the Regional Development Ministry asking for the acquisition of the facility by Ruse Municipality with funds provided by the state. "This will ensure the public interest to the maximum extent. Thus, on the territory of this parking lot, the Municipality and the state will be able to carry out all their necessary activities. The facility is close to the site where the state is planning to build an intermodal terminal, which creates opportunities, as there is also a technical possibility for connecting the parking lot with the future motorway linking Ruse and Veliko Tarnovo," Milkov said.

He noted that Ruse Municipality had requested an offer from the TIR Parking Ruse company for the sale of the facility, with the EUR 10 million offer valid until February 15.

The company built the parking lot and put it into operation in 2023, with a capacity for at least 600 trucks and 80 cars. Separately, there are sanitary and household buildings, a shop and a catering establishment.
