President Iliana Iotova continues consultations with the parliamentary groups in the 51st National Assembly as part of the procedure for appointing a caretaker prime minister, the press secretariat of the head of State said on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, President Iotova will receive representatives from the Movement for Rights and Freedoms - New Beginning at 10 a.m., representatives of BSP - United Left at 11:30 a.m., and There Is Such a People (TISP) at 1 p.m.

An invitation for a meeting has also been extended to the parliamentary group of Vazrazhdane, the press secretariat added. Vazrazhdane leader Kostadin Kostadinov “categorically rejected the invitation for further consultations” with President Iotova, the party’s press centre said on Monday.

On Tuesday, Iliana Iotova met with GERB-UDF and Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria.

Last week, Iotova met with all potential caretaker prime ministers designated in the Constitution. Five individuals expressed their willingness to take on the post: Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) Deputy Governor Andrey Gurov, Deputy Ombudsman Maria Filipova, National Audit Office President Dimitar Glavchev, as well as his deputies Margarita Nikolova and Silvia Kadreva.

Under the Constitution, after consultations with the parliamentary groups and based on a proposal from the candidate for caretaker prime minister, the president appoints a caretaker government and schedules new elections within a two-month period.
