On February 9, the Ministry of Finance will issue bonds with a 10-year maturity, totalling EUR 150 million and an interest coupon of 3.5%, the Bulgarian National Bank reported on Tuesday. This will be the third auction for the year, after 2-year and 5-year bonds were already sold in January.
According to the Public Finance Act, under the terms of the budget extension, the Council of Ministers may assume public debt to refinance outstanding debt up to the amount of annual repayments on public debt assumed until the beginning of the relevant budget year.
In 2025, the Ministry of Finance placed new debt through the sale of government bonds amounting to approximately EUR 8.9 billion. Government bonds worth approximately EUR 1.7 billion were placed on the domestic market, and another EUR 7.2 billion was raised as a result of two debt operations on international markets.
