The Bulgarian community in the Northeastern United States will mark the national holiday of Bulgaria - Liberation Day, March 3 - at the Charging Bull statue in New York on February 28. The Bulgarian national flag will be raised as part of the ceremony, the Bulgarian Consulate General in New York said in a Facebook post on Friday.
The event is on the calendar of Bulgarian cultural events in New York this month.
The raising of the Bulgarian flag in New York for March 3 is a tradition dating back to 2007. It was was not observed from 2010 to 2022 before being resumed in 2023. In 2024, New York City Mayor Eric Adams proclaimed March 3 Bulgarian Heritage Day.
