The official launch of a book featuring works from the The Sofianer art project exhibitions will take place at Sofia's Central Market Hall on March 13, organizers announced.

The bilingual book features 72 works and brings together 60 contemporary Bulgarian artists who, in the past four years, created their own covers for the imaginary The Sofianer magazine. The edition includes essays by Georgi Gospodinov, winner of the 2023 International Booker Prize for his novel Time Shelter, whose works have been translated into more than 25 languages, as well as texts by journalist Konstantin Valkov and the Visit Sofia website.

At the launch, visitors can meet the artists and get autographs.

Launched in 2022 as a tribute to the iconic covers of The New Yorker, The Sofianer quickly evolved into an independent platform for contemporary visual storytelling of the city, the organizers say. Over four years, it has staged four exhibitions and numerous pop-up formats, participated in dozens of cultural events, and built an active community around the idea of a more confident and visible European Sofia.

The Sofianer is an initiative of the Credo Bonum Foundation and Multi Kulti Collective.
