In December 2025, turnover in retail trade, except trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles at constant prices increased by 1.6% compared to the previous month and by 7.7% compared to the same month of 2024, the National Statistical Institute reported on Friday. The data are preliminary and seasonally adjusted.

Monthly changes

In December 2025, а turnover increase was reported in retail trade of non-food products (except fuel) - by 5.6%, in retail sales of automotive fuels in specialized stores - by 1.9%, while a 1.6% decrease was observed in retail trade of food products, beverages and tobacco.

In the group retail sales of non-food products (except fuel), an increase was observed in all subgroups, as the most significant growth was recorded in retail sales via mail, order houses or via Internet - by 20.4%, dispensing chemist; retail sale of medical and orthopaedic goods, cosmetic and toilet articles - by 4.8%, and in other retail sales in non-specialized stores and retail sale of audio and video equipment; hardware, paints and glass; electrical household appliances - by 3.4% each.

Annual changes

In December 2025, compared to the same month of 2024, a turnover rise was registered in retail sales of non-food product (except fuel) - by 15.7%, and in retail sales of automotive fuel in specialized stores - by 11.8%, while a 4.6% decrease was reported in the retail sales of food, beverages and tobacco.

In the group retail sales of non-food products (except fuel) an increase was observed in all subgroups. A major growth was recorded in retail sale of audio and video equipment; hardware, paints and glass; electrical household appliances - by 29.3%, in other retail sales in non-specialized stores - by 16.4% and in retail sales of computers, peripheral units and software; telecommunications equipment - by 16.3%.
