The Odesa region was targeted by a massive overnight attack by the Russian armed forces, leaving more than 50,000 households without electricity, Odesa Regional Military Administration head Oleh Kiper said on Telegram Tuesday.

Kiper said that the large-scale missile and drone attack on the Odesa region targeted energy and civilian infrastructure in the southern part of the region.

As a result of the attack, more than 50,000 residents were temporarily left without power, the regional governor noted, adding that energy workers are carrying out restoration efforts.

Damage was reported to three residential buildings, as well as to warehouses, administrative premises and vehicles.

Critical infrastructure facilities are operating on generators.

Bulgarians in Odesa Region number more than 150,000 and are the third largest population group in Ukraine, according to the latest official census. Between 50,000 and 60,000 Bulgarians live in the city of Odesa itself. The largest compact Bulgarian population is concentrated in the Bolhrad, Izmail and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi districts.
