A presentation of Bulgarian authors translated into German took place at the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Berlin, the Institute announced on Facebook on Tuesday.
On May 29, the poetry collections Yellow Poetry by Maria Virhov and Poems for the Blue Boy by Alexandar Vutimski were presented as part of this year’s edition of the Cyrillic Sounds festival, organised by eta Verlag and publisher Petya Lund.
“Henrike Schmidt and Andreas Tretner, translators from Bulgarian into German, complemented the literary reading in a very engaging way with stories from the work and lives of the two poets. They also allowed the audience a glimpse behind the scenes of the art of translation. Vera Trayanova also read several poems in Bulgarian. It was a wonderful and enriching evening,” the Cultural Institute said.
