Diplomats from the Bulgarian Embassy in Skopje, representatives of the Bulgarian Culture and Information Centre and of Bulgarian associations in the Republic of North Macedonia honoured with a minute of silence the memory of revolutionary and poet Hristo Botev and those who died for Bulgaria's freedom. The commemoration took place on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. local time (12:00 p.m. Bulgarian time) in front of the Botev bas-relief on the building of the Bulgarian Embassy.

Vladimir Hristov, Deputy Head of Bulgaria's Mission in North Macedonia, said: "Each of us has our own personal reason for being here and for honouring, in our thoughts, those who gave their lives for Bulgaria's freedom. My thoughts on June 2 are connected to the endless desire for freedom, the uncompromising will to act to achieve that freedom, and the realism and awareness that this freedom can be achieved solely through our own efforts. We bow before the heroes."

Hristov laid flowers on the bas-relief on behalf of the Embassy. Flowers were also laid by Bulgaria's military and assistant military attaches in North Macedonia, Colonel Asen Lambev and Major Diana Dimitrova; the Director of the Bulgarian Culture and Information Centre, Antonia Veleva; and the Director of the Bulgarian Sunday school Zdravey, Iliyana Atanasova.
