Bulgarian judokas won three medals – two gold and one bronze – on day two of the Sofia European Open 2026, held at Arena 8888 on Sunday. Bulgaria is hosting the first tournament on the international judo calendar for 2026. The competition awards world ranking points.

Gold medals were won by Gabriela Dimitrova, who defeated Lea Metrot (France) in the under-52 kg category, and Boris Georgiev, who overcame Daniel Liubimovski (United States) in the 100 kg division.

Mariyan Palev (90 kg) claimed bronze after a victory over Thomas Scharfetter (Austria). Just short of the podium were Hristo Valkov (81 kg) and Anton Dimitrov (90 kg), who both finished fifth.

On Saturday, Bulgaria won four more medals – one gold, one silver and two bronze.

The tournament featured 385 competitors from 39 countries.
