The fifth edition of Sofia Lights will take place in the park of the Rakovski National Defence College in Sofia between March 1 and 22, Urban Creatures who organize the event reported. Visual artist Amanda Parer will be a special guest at the festival.
The organizers wrote on their website: "In a world that feels increasingly out of balance, caught between global turmoil and the noise of social media, SOFIA LIGHTS creates a fleeting, magical reality. [...] This is an experience that brings you back into your body, breaks the hypnosis of the screen, and places you before something so monumental you can feel it on your skin."
The project has been in preparation for three years in collaboration with Parer, one of the most significant names in contemporary light art. Born in Australia, she uses light and monumental scale to transform the urban environment into a stage for reflection. Her works have been exhibited in more than 300 cities around the world.
Visitors of the festival will see six monumental human figures as well as the art installations Particles and Presence 2.0 by Empatia studio.
The event is part of the Sofia Municipality Cultural Calendar.
