Bulgaria's Defence Ministry has announced a public procurement procedure for the repair of up to ten engines for MiG-29 aircraft at an estimated cost of slightly over EUR 21 million. The notice has been published in the Public Procurement Register.

The procurement is for the overhaul/major overhaul and reconditioning of up to ten engines for MiG-29 aircraft for an extension of their time-between-overhaul period and time-between-overhaul service life by means of the conclusion of a 48-month framework agreement.

Tenders or requests to participate in the competitive procedure with negotiation for the conclusion of a framework agreement must be submitted by February 27, 2026.

The repair per engine must be performed within nine months.

Previously, Polish State-owned company Wojskowe Zaklady Lotnicze Nr 2 S.A was contracted to repair Bulgarian MiG-29 engines at the end of 2024.
