Customs officers seized nearly EUR 100,000 of undeclared banknotes at the Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint, the press centre of the Customs Agency in Svilengrad said on Thursday. The undeclared cash was found in a truck trying to cross the border to Turkiye on September 16.

The driver, a Turkish national, declared to the customs authorities that the goods he was transporting were from the Netherlands. After conducting a thorough customs inspection, the inspectors found euro banknotes in packages in the driver's cabin.

A pre-trial investigation has been initiated in the case, which is being conducted under the supervision of the Haskovo District Prosecution Office.
