The Council of Ministers amended an Agreement for Project No. PRJ-RT-1149 between the Minister of Defence of the Kingdom of Belgium, the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic, the Minister of Defence of the French Republic, the Ministry of Defence of the Italian Republic, the Minister of Defence of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the Ministry of Defence of the Kingdom of Norway, the Minister of National Defence of the Republic of Poland, the Defence Materiel Administration authorized by the Government of the Kingdom of Sweden, and the Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport of the Swiss Confederation, concerning the European Defence Agency project “Small Arms Ammunition Technology” (SAAT), which entered into force on 1 August 2024.

The government proposes that the Ministry of Defence, through the Prof. Tsvetan Lazarov Defence Institute join the Project Agreement governing the implementation of the aforementioned EDA project. The project brings together 18 partners from nine countries, including defence equipment manufacturers, research organizations, and national ministries of defence, and aims to strengthen interoperability among European armed forces as well as to advance ammunition technologies.

Furthermore, the project envisages the active participation of defence manufacturer Arsenal. The company has carried out preliminary estimates and is prepared to provide funding from its own resources, covering the work of specialists and the necessary equipment for the entire duration of the project.
