The Bulgarian folk group TropaLintsi from Linz, Austria, will take part in the 11th edition of the travelling festival Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance, to be held from May 15 to 17 at BMW Park in Munich.

The group will present a Thracian dance titled "Obrecheni" ("Doomed"), Artistic Director Tanya Nedyalkova told BTA.

The choreography portrays the story of an impossible love between two people, reflecting a time when personal choice in marriage was often denied. The dance is choreographed by Vanina Ninova-Grabez and set to music based on Kozbunar melodies performed by Atanas Valchev and Elka Valcheva.

Through the performance, the group aims to convey that, as in real life, not every story has a happy ending.

TropaLintsi was founded in 2023 and brings together dancers aged between 26 and 60. According to Nedyalkova, the ensemble is made up entirely of Bulgarians united by their love of folklore.

The group emerged after several years of informal folk dancing, when members decided to create their first original choreography for a wedding performance, marking the beginning of the ensemble.

The Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance travelling festival is organized by and for amateur folklore ensembles performing outside Bulgaria. The initiative was launched by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the first edition in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025. More than 100 dance ensembles and over 4,000 guests are expected at the 11th edition in Munich in May. The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is the official media partner of the event and will present all participants.
