site.bta55 Kg Cocaine Seized in Diplomatic Vehicle at Turkish-Bulgarian Border

Turkish customs officers seized some 55 kilograms of cocaine during a check of an inbound vehicle with diplomatic license plates at the Kapıkule checkpoint on the border with Bulgaria. The car belongs to a Sofia-based embassy of a South American country.

The diplomatic vehicle arrived at Kapıkule from the Bulgarian Kapitan Andreevo checkpoint, Turkiye's state-run Anadolu News Agency reported.

The Turkish custom officers inspected the car and found 52 packs containing nearly 55 kilograms of cocaine, hidden in different places.

The driver and a passenger, whose names have not been released, have been detained by a court in Edirne on drug trafficking charges.
