site.btaNavy Reinforces Dive Team for Maslen Nos Wreck

The Defence Ministry said on Saturday that an additional Navy diving team and a remotely operated underwater vehicle were redeployed overnight from Varna to the Burgas Naval Base to continue the inspection of the fishing vessel sunk east of Cape Maslen Nos.

In an effort to get ahead of an expected deterioration in weather, an attempt was made early on Saturday to resume the inspection of the sunken vessel. Because of unfavourable hydro-meteorological conditions in the area of the shipwreck, the operation was temporarily suspended, the ministry said.

The inspection can continue once hydro-meteorological conditions in the area improve, which according to the forecast is expected after Monday, February 23.

The vessel was located on Friday at a depth of about 40 metres off the southern stretch of the Bulgarian Black Sea coast.
