In relation to information about a sea mine explosion near the Romanian Black Sea resort of Kostineti, the Bulgarian Navy has taken additional actions for counter-mine monitoring so as to ensure the safety of ships and prevent incidents, the Defence Ministry said on Monday. Additional response forces and resources are on standby in case alerts are received about floating mines.
Earlier on Monday, a sea mine blew up near Kostineti; no one was injured and no serious material damage occurred. A second mine has been detected nearby.
This is not the first such incident since the start of the war in Ukraine, local media said. The Romanian Navy has thus far neutralized five sea mines in this area.
