The drone debris found on Tuesday on a beach in Romania's largest and most popular Black Sea resort, Mamaia, pose no danger to the population, investigators said, quoted by Romania’s state broadcaster TVR.
The unmanned device did not come from a conflict zone, Camelia Conortos, Court of Appeal of Constanta spokesperson, said, quoted by the media. The metal piece found is over a meter long and does not contain any explosive charge.
The drone was used in shooting exercises involving employees of the Ministry of National Defence and partner structures, Antena 3 CNN news channel reported, citing sources from the ministry.
"Specialized teams are working to determine whether they can extract information from the electronic components about the route, period, and source," Defence Minister Radu-Dinel Miruta said on Tuesday.
In recent weeks, the sea washed up fragments of two drones on shore. One in the area of the port of Midia, and the other on Corbu beach.
The Mamaia beach drone debris was spotted by a local resident of Constanta, who called the emergency number 112.
