American writer Candace Bushnell will present her one-woman show in Bucharest on April 29, 2026, organizers said on Thursday. Bushnell, whose work inspired the hit TV series Sex and the City, will bring True Tales of Sex, Success, and Sex and the City to the Romanian capital.
"In this witty and hugely entertaining stage memoir, Candace Bushnell takes audiences to New York and beyond, sharing remarkable true stories about fashion, literature and relationships. Part confession, part cultural history, part conversation with the audience, the show touches on themes such as friendship, success, sadness, ageing and what it really means to live life by your own rules," the organizers said.
Bushnell was born on December 1, 1958, in Glastonbury, Connecticut, the United States. Her father was one of the inventors of air cooling for the hydrogen fuel cell used in the Apollo space missions in the 1960s, local media recalled.
In 1993, Bushnell began writing for The New York Observer, and in 1994 she started running the Sex and the City column. Three years later, her pieces were collected in the book Sex and the City, which became a global bestseller. In 1998, the book was adapted for TV as Sex and the City, starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon. Bushnell was the inspiration for Carrie Bradshaw, the role played by Parker.
